Free Agent Scoonie Barrett parts ways with Agent Rodger Reichenbach
by Anthony Wendlinger, Featured Columnist

Scoonie Barrett has left longtime agent Rodger Reichenbach of Michigan Furry Sports Management, according to his Twitter account and several external sources. Barrett, a lottery pick in the 2013 FBA Draft, is currently a free agent after his rookie contract with the Hawaii Kahunas expired in June.

Furballer's Geoffrey Whitewater and FSPN.com Isabel Soria, among others, were the first to report early signs of distress between the player and his representative, seemingly over a disagreement upon which path to take in the off-season.

Whitewater himself reported the player "feeling unhappy with how Reichenbach was managing the deal, manipulating the situation to get him to explore directions he wasn't comfortable with," while Soria pointed out how the agent himself was reportedly "disappointed by the lack of interest for his client, especially by several title contenders who had shown mild interest in the past".

Barrett himself didn't shy from commenting the unsurprising news, reports the Associated Press. "I appreciate the work that Mr Reichenbach has put in for me in the past two years, but after a few recent developments I feel it's time for me to move on."

It's worth noticing that Reichenbach's popularity has risen exponentially in those past few years, especially after he was able to sign Scoonie a $27 million, 6-year worth endorsement deal with athletic apparel staple Under Armour earlier this year. His list of clients includes, among others, Santa Ana Spectrums' 6th fur Scott Parsons and Texas Lone Stars' 2-time FBA champion Chrys Brachy.

It remains to be seen who the otter will choose as his new representation, as his next agent will have to go through the task of managing what has been a decidedly rocky free agency for the bigfur from Michigan.

Barrett, who was heavily tipped as one of the hottest free agents on the market, has reportedly received just two offers so far - from the Kahunas as well as the Alaska Arctics. During the FBAPA strike, he's been playing in the EFBL with Real Madrid CFB, averaging 12.8 points and 8 rebounds over 6 appearances with the Spanish team.

Free Agent Scoonie Barrett shocks people with management signing
by Anthony Wendlinger, Featured Columnist

Despite garnering a moderate level of interest among FBA franchises, Scoonie Barrett's free agency has been nothing short of eventful, especially after the 24-year-old otter bigfur reportedly broke up with longtime agent Rodger Reichenbach of Michigan Furry Sports Management upon a disagreement about his imminent signing.

Now, according to Geoffrey Whitewater of Furballer (a source who's historically been very near to Barrett), as well as the player's Twitter account, the big lutrine has found new representation in Thiruvak “Terry” Wattanaporn, 25, an up-and-coming red squirrel agent currently based in Evansville, Indiana, whose firm Wattanaporn Consultants has found increasing success in the past two years.

Wattanaporn and Barrett played basketball high school together at Holt Furry High during the late 2000s, although the Thailand-born rodent wasn't there for their state championship run in 2010 – being one year older than the mustelid himself. A bench member of that original team, Wattanaporn left the sport at eighteen and went on to get a Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management at a private university in Illinois. After two years of internship, he decided to start his own agency with the help of childhood friend Jeremy Gittens, currently the vice-president of Wattanaporn Consultants.

At the moment, Wattanaporn's list of clients includes capybara bigfur Nigel Allis, who's been playing reserve for the Pistonlar Bursa of the EFBL - as well as Chris Brown V and Alan Röhrig, both Mustelid Michigan U alumni who have tried their luck at European basketball. Several D-Leaguers are also part of his roster.

It was through Brown, who's currently playing in Sabadell, Spain, that Barrett reunited with his high school friend and matured the decision to sign with his firm. “At this point in my career,” the otter bigfur was quoted, “I'm independent enough to mostly make my own decisions, but I need someone who can help me with my finances and advise me properly while at the same time mostly sharing my line of thought. I believe Terry's the right person for the job, and I can't wait to begin this partnership, in the hope we can mutually help each other develop both our careers.”

It's worth mentioning that Scoonie's signing will make Wattanaporn the youngest licensed agent in the world with a player on an FBA roster.

Scoonie Barrett, who was heavily tipped as one of the hottest free agents on the market, is currently considering offers from Hawaii, Alaska and Pittsburgh. During the FBAPA strike, he's been playing in the EFBL with Real Madrid CFB, averaging 13.1 points and 8.1 rebounds over 7 appearances with the Spanish team.
