2014 FBA Playoffs Conference Semifinals Day 3

Postby TrianglePascal » June 16th, 2014, 9:40 am

Following a disappointing showing on Friday night, the Thrust came back to tie up their series with the Totems. After Rocky Caracal (Lynx, G) humiliated him last game, Shane Rufus (Red Wolf, G) was out for blood in the first half of the game, putting up solid numbers and making sure Chainlink knew just who those buckets were for. The red wolf isn't as young as he used to be, though, and it showed as his game slowed to a crawl after halftime. As Rufus tired and Caracal gradually turned the game around, inspiration for the Thrust finally came from a surprising source in the final quarter. The Thrust's former captain Peter Conner (Cougar, F) took control of the San Jose team's faltering defence, and managed to hold Edmonton to tying the game up. In the final quarter, St Peter was flying on an angel's wings, helping the Thrust to take the game home.

In the Eastern Conference, the Tennessee Moonshiners completely and utterly crushed the Baltimore Spirits tonight. Urayak Monogoyak (Wolverine, F) and Paul Teronura (Otter, C) were everywhere at once, keeping confidently ahead of the Spirits at all times. The two Moonshiners alone managed to outscore and out-rebound the Spirits' entire starting lineup. Without the guidance of Spirits captain Joey Cox (Roadrunner, G), the game quickly slipped out of Baltimore's reach, resulting in a 31 point blowout for the Moonshiners. Much to the surprise of many, though, three-time Defensive Player of the Year Doral (Gecko, G/F) seemed to wake up tonight from her season-long slump tonight. Without the lizard's strong effort tonight, the match would have become an even more humiliating embarrassment for the Spirits than it already was. This leaves the series at 2-0 for the Moonshiners, going in to two games in Baltimore.
